Construction Process & Pricing:
In a hand crafted guitar it is
possible to attain a certain sound through the choice of materials, design of the
instrument, and construction techniques. Each White Guitar is made individually to suit
the players needs and desires requiring several hundred hours for its completion. It
is my goal to build a guitar of exceptional quality and sound. My standard model is a
classic instrument based on the 1943 Hauser design, favored by Andres Segovia, which has
seven fan braces featuring the following characteristics:
- 65 centimeter scale
- a one-piece neck of mahogany or Spanish cedar
- a spruce or cedar top
- ebony fret board
- ramped string slots, 35 mm roller spacing for the machine
heads
- a rosewood body that tapers from 97.5 mm to 92.5mm
- 43 mm string spacing at the nut and 57 mm at the saddle
- a decorative wood or mosaic rosette
- wood bindings
- Brazilian rosewood bridge
- Tuning machines (David Rodgers Tuners cost an additional $500)
- French-polish finish
- A high-quality case
For an additional fee, the guitar body can be made out of African
Blackwood, Australian Blackwood, Cyprus, figured or plain maple, Brazilian Rosewood, or
Koa. (For African Blackwood, or Brazilian Rosewood, add $1500.) Snakewood Bindings cost an
additional $100.
Other possible
alterations include a cut-a-way neck design, variations in string spacing or scale length.
I also build custom steel-string acoustic instruments upon request.
All of my materials are
well-seasoned and of the highest quality. My current base price is $8500. A $500 deposit
is required when placing an order. The balance is due prior to delivery. We
are now accepting orders for March 2008 delivery. The White Guitar Fan Club is growing in numbers
and letters of recommendation are available for the asking. A
hand painted White Guitars T-shirt is now included with each order so that you too, can
become a member of our club.
